The appalling silence

History will have to record that
the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition
was not the strident clamor of the bad people,
but the appalling silence of the good people.

I read your miscarriage posts. I am miscarrying at 15 weeks (but baby probably only grew to 12-13).
I know your 12 week baby you knew was a girl just based on maternal instinct, but were you able to see that Thomas was a boy?
I really hope we can determine the gender when we see the baby. I just started bleeding this morning.
I've read that fetal genitalia are developed enough to distinguish by this point, but then we I saw pictures comparing fetuses, I couldn't have distinguished the boy from girl if they weren't labeled.

So, my question is, do you think we'll be able to identify the gender when we see the baby?

I was reading several of MLK Jr's speeches and letters and sermons last night and was so sad but in such strong agreement when he spoke so openly about moderate whites being their worst enemy. Whites who supported desegregation but who were afraid of causing trouble and going against the status quo so they stayed silent.

I never want to stay silent.

First of all, i'm so sorry. :(
I had a gut feeling about both Thomas and Kjersti (and also Bear...) I suppose it's possible we were wrong about Thomas, but yes we just looked at him and thought it looked like little boy parts. You're right, at 13ish weeks gestation boys and girls do look quite similar (that is a great link you posted). But I guess between my instinct and what we saw, we felt like he was a boy.
So I don't know...babies that age are quite small, so the genitals are tiny...you might be able to see and you might not. I would just look, and then go with your gut.
