My youngest brother was about five at the time and he came up with a gift all on his own. Dad had to help him a little, but on Christmas morning he presented the family with a little wooden Christmas tree painted green and fully decorated. It was just so sweet to see all the work and thought he had put into creating a new decoration for the family to have.
A lot of times I've felt like I'd rather not have any "gifts" if it's just going to be "stuff." The gifts that have some real thought behind them are best, like you said, regardless of how much or how little they cost.Jessicahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12753847168007127855noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5551466722529127235.post-43126466850605439282009-12-10T21:06:48.139-09:002009-12-10T21:06:48.139-09:00I had to think about this one a while, but I final...I had to think about this one a while, but I finally came up with what was one of my all-time favorite gifts. One year when I was first married and my younger sister was in high school, she sequestered herself downstairs for a couple of days before Christmas, working on a present for me. I was in tears Christmas morning when I opened her gift--several scrapbook pages she'd created from pictures of us (and our older sister) over the years, many of which I hadn't seen in ages. They weren't the most beautiful pages (keep in mind that this was 13 years ago!), but they are absolutely precious to me...especially since our older sister passed away this summer. I love all those pictures that remind me of our relationship.Amy Jo Madsenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00752154316846867043noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5551466722529127235.post-90916167338696806832009-12-07T10:09:50.519-09:002009-12-07T10:09:50.519-09:00This post made me cry. When I was born my dad bought me a little yellow chicken puffalump. He gave it to me the day I was born and I still have, with one arm and a few tears, but he's my Lovey. (I still find myself whispering "I love you" to him at night.)
When I first found out I was pregnant for the first time I made a comment in passing that I would love for my baby to have a Lovey too just like mine. At my baby shower there were all kinds of gifts, beautiful clothes and blankets, my step dad make two cradles by hand for the twins, I loved them all. The last thing on my ind was my Lovey, until I opened the very last present. Down in a bag overflowing with tissue paper were two fluffy yellow puffalumps. My mom had remembered, and had searched Ebay for months to find them. She bought alot of other stuffed animals that she didn't need or want to get one of them, she washed them and fluffed them back up, and my girls think they are the best thing in the world. Just like I did, they will wake up in the middle of the night looking for them. But they call them "Bee-bee."Christahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06700383690878839987noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5551466722529127235.post-36884663384999467152009-12-07T08:45:01.762-09:002009-12-07T08:45:01.762-09:00My favorite gifts are always books. But I think it is always the most appreciated, because I love reading so much!

This year, I made Bug some fabric books (textures and zips, ties, etc.) I know he probably isn't old enough to show great appreciation for them, but I hope some day he will look at those books and say, "My mom made those for me. And I love them!"Malloryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04991788960863652000noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5551466722529127235.post-26776865905251240272009-12-07T08:28:26.815-09:002009-12-07T08:28:26.815-09:00One of the best gifts I was given was my MIL's...One of the best gifts I was given was my MIL's old piano. While I don't play the piano, I wanted to be able to have my girls take lessons when they were old enough. My MIL had mentioned getting rid of theirs, so my husband and his brothers arranged to sneak the piano from his parents house to our house (in a different city) while we were visiting for Christmas without my ever knowing. It was quite a surprise to walk into my living room when we returned to find the piano there.Destinyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00141699304044544668noreply@blogger.com
