So, each night when Hubby and I brush our teeth, we have a disagreement. One of us brushes then flosses...the other flosses then brushes.
He says I am weird and that I do it backwards. He says his way is more effective and I should switch.
Of course, I feel the same of him and his routine.
I have concluded that it is only 'backwards' if the majority does it the other way, therefore I aim to solve this matter scientifically by posting a poll here on my blog. See, there it is ------------->
Please put your answer on my poll, and we shall see which of us is really backwards!
(And yes, once the official 'right' way is determined, I promise to tell you which of us is 'right' and which is 'backwards'!)
You know I had never really thought about it until now... I guess I just brush then floss as flossing is more of an after thought - something I do if I have the time, whereas brushing is a must do?
ReplyDeleteI voted "floss first," but that's only after swishing with water a few times. Otherwise I would brush first.
ReplyDeleteHere's the thing. When you floss you get some googies out (at least I do...). I like to brush those out. Jenni says she's afraid she'll brush things in. I think when you brush it's little stuff so you should do big stuff and then little stuff. However is a dentist or other oral expert sounds in on a better way to go, I will change.
ReplyDeleteI brush first for the same reasons as katef, but now that you mention it, it does seem more sensible to floss first, so you can brush away anything you might get out flossing. Then again, it generally comes out on the floss. But no, there have been occasions when I've felt I needed to brush again after I floss. Hmm, I just votes brush first, because that's what I do, and now I'm thinking about changing my ways. Except I don't floss that often, so maybe not.
ReplyDeleteMy husband says wouldn't it be nice if our only arguments revolved around topics like dental floss. ;)
I brush first, floss second. In my OCD ways, I feel like I'm shoving larger gunk down into my gums if I floss first. I really believe that I can feel my gums enflamed! So I brush to clean off the big gunk and then floss. Kind of like sweeping before mopping. My dentist always ooos and aahhs about my oral hygiene, but he's never asked me about the order and I can't remember which order he does it in.
ReplyDeleteActually, the real right way (mine, of course) is to brush first, floss second and do a quick re-brush third!
ReplyDeletefloss than brush for the same reason mr. brighton stated.
