Boob, It's What's for Dinner!

I came across this blog today (link from a link from a...you get the idea). Anyway, I wanted to share the link here because I think some of my readers here might be able to be of help to her as well... This blog is from a young mother of twins (they are 7wks old). She started off nursing full time, in spite of not really having support from anyone. She ended up struggling with her supply, and supplementing with a little formula, which shortened her supply even more...she really doesn't want to use formula and is now struggling to increase her supply again. She started the blog in the hopes of having some support as she pushes forward on her breastfeeding journey. My breastfeeing issues (if they could even be called that) were more along the lines of having too much supply...so while I can be helpful in a theoretical way, I don't have any applicable practical experience for her. So if you do, please drop her a visit!

All that said, I thought I would share a few of my favorite breastfeeding resources:

La Leche League--this is an awesome group! It is so helpful to have real people to talk to! Find a local chapter (the website has contact info by region) and go to some meetings! If you're struggling with something, feel free to call a local LLL leader, even if you have never been to a meeting. These women are passionate about breastfeeding, and would love to help you.
Kellymom--this site is all about breastfeeding. I mean ALL about breastfeeding. I don't know who runs it but bless her heart!!! There is information about boosting supply, nutritional needs, how to tell if your baby has allergies to something you are eating, etc etc. I spent a lot of time on this site when we were first starting with nursing!
Dr Sears Website also has some good breastfeeding information (as well as info about every other aspect of parenting!) Dr Sears promotes gentle, attached parenting, including things like natural/homebirth and co-sleeping, which is why I like him!
The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding--a nice thick book, covers all kinds of stuff...not a replacement for human advice, but an excellent resource.
The Breastfeeding Book by Dr Sears--I have not read this one, but I have read some of his other books (they were excellent), and this one comes well recommended too.
So That's What They're For by Janet Tamaro--comes very highly recommended as being easy to read and easy to use.

I may write out specific breastfeeding advice someday...but really it's all just things I've accumulated from these resources, and you can find better answers to your own struggles if you persue them with your own needs in mind.

Happy Nurning!!!

I will have to check out that link. It's so hard to breastfeed and not have support and accurate information!
